Dr. James Boice

Dr. James Boice
The Bible Study Hour

Dr. James Montgomery Boice, speaker on The Bible Study Hour radio broadcast since 1969, served as Senior Minister of Philadelphia's historic Tenth Presbyterian Church from 1968 until his death in 2000. The broadcast continues to air his messages, starting in 1969.

Under Dr. Boice, Tenth Presbyterian Church became a model for evangelical ministry in America's cities. He also gave leadership to groups beyond his own church and organization, including the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy and Bible Study Fellowship.

He also founded and chaired an annual lay theology conference, Philadelphia Conference on Reformation Theology, which has run continuously for 28 years and has brought in-depth study of major biblical doctrines to thousands of people.

In 1994 Dr. Boice joined with other evangelical leaders in founding the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, which in 1996 sponsored a Summit meeting in Cambridge, Massachusetts, of more than 100 evangelical leaders. Out of that meeting came "The Cambridge Declaration," a document calling Christians to repent of their cultural worldliness and to recover the great salvation doctrines of the Bible as the Reformers did in the sixteenth century. This organization now produces The Bible Study Hour, Modern Reformation and God's Word Today magazines, and sponsors many conferences and seminars.

A prolific author, Dr. Boice wrote or contributed to over sixty books on a wide variety of biblical and theological themes. His 4-volume commentary on Romans was named one of the best books of the twentieth century. Other popular titles include Standing on the Rock, The Parables of Jesus, The Christ of Christmas, Christ's Call to Discipleship...

Dr. Boice held degrees from Harvard University (A.B.), Princeton Theological Seminary (B.D.), the University of Basel, Switzerland (D. Theol.) and the Theological Seminary of the Reformed Episcopal Church (D.D., honorary).

Pastor Alistair Begg

Alistair Begg
Truth for Life Weekend

The teaching on Truth For Life Weekend stems from the week by week Bible teaching at Parkside Church. This non-denominational body of believers is located in a southeast suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. The mission of Parkside Church is to see unbelieving people become committed followers of Jesus Christ. Psalm 138:2 says "For you have exalted above all things your name and your word," as a result the Word of God is central at both the church and on Truth For Life.

Alistair was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1952 to Christian parents who were instrumental in his coming to faith in Christ. At the end of high school, his sights were set on a law degree and an American girl named Susan.

Today he has a theology degree and Susan’s love! They were married following his graduation in 1975 from London Bible College and lived in Edinburgh for two years where Alistair was the assistant to Derek Prime at Charlotte Chapel. From 1977-1983 he was pastor of Hamilton Baptist Church. During that time their three children, Cameron, Michelle and Emily were born. In the summer of 1983 he accepted the invitation to pastor in Cleveland, Ohio and they have been there ever since.

When Alistair is 'off duty' you will find him with the family, taking photographs, playing the three tunes he knows on the piano, scouring second hand book shops and desperately trying to break 80 on the golf course.

Dr. Michael Youssef

Dr. Michael Youssef
Leading The Way

Even before he was born, it was evident that God had a vision for Michael Amerhom Youssef. His mother was in poor health at the time she became pregnant with Michael, and because her life would be jeopardized by the birth, the doctor recommended terminating the pregnancy. An abortion procedure was scheduled. But God intervened, and sent the family pastor to reassure them the night before the procedure was to take place that God was involved in this pregnancy, not to be afraid, and that this child would be "born to serve the Lord." Michael's parents accepted the pastor's message as a message from God and obeyed. His mother gave birth, and lived to see him surrender his life to the Lord in 1964 at age sixteen.

Believing that God was calling him out of Egypt, Michael sought an exit visa at a time when no university student was permitted to hold a passport or leave the country. God intervened again, and miraculously provided approval of his application. He immigrated to Australia, where he studied at Moore Theological College in Sydney, was ordained as a minister, and met and married his wife, Elizabeth.

The Youssefs came to America in 1977, and in 1978 Michael received a master's degree in theology at Fuller Theological Seminary in California. He later earned a doctorate in social anthropology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael served for nearly ten years with the Haggai Institute, traveling around the world more than 32 times, teaching courses in evangelism and church leadership to church leaders. He rose to the position of Managing Director at the age of 31. The family settled in Atlanta, and in 1984, Michael became a United States citizen, fulfilling a dream he had held for many years.

He founded The Church of The Apostles in 1987 with fewer than 40 adults with the mission to "Equip the Saints and Seek the Lost." The church has since grown to a congregation of over 3000. This church on a hill was the launching pad for Leading the Way's international ministry. While heard by millions at home and abroad, behind every message preached over the airwaves is a pastor's heart, longing to feed and care for people. Clearly God has uniquely equipped Dr. Youssef to speak to a worldwide audience. The path he has walked has given him a thorough cross-cultural understanding and a firm grasp of Scripture. He preaches, teaches and exhorts with a straightforward and uncompromising delivery, based on the authority of the inspired, infallible Word of God. His unique, firsthand understanding of the Holy Land, its history and culture, brings the Bible to life for listeners.

Leading The Way claims Dr. Youssef as the ministry's number one volunteer. He receives no compensation for his time, nor does he receive royalties from the sale of any of the resource materials he produces and authors.

God called Dr. Youssef, even before birth, and is using Leading The Way to reach millions of lost souls, equip the saints, and build up His church worldwide.
